About 100 Ultramarathon | Bamburgh Castle to Edinburgh Castle
The 100 Ultramarathon is the opening event in a three-part castle-to-castle series spanning Britain. This inaugural race covers 100 miles of trail from Bamburgh Castle on the Northumberland coast to Edinburgh Castle, taking place from 3-5 July 2027.
Designed with accessibility in mind, the event imposes no qualifying times and sets a walker-friendly completion pace of 2.5mph, with a 48-hour window and cut-offs only after 60 miles. Nine stocked pit stops with hot food are positioned throughout the route, which is fully waymarked and supported by a professional medical team. Solo runners dominate the field, and the event maintains the highest 100-mile completion rate in the UK.
Those completing all three ultramarathons in the Trilogy—with races also scheduled to Glamis Castle and Stirling Castle—earn a Trilogy Finisher buckle.
