About Admiral McHilly Trail
On 23 August 2026, Essex Trail Events runs two self-navigating trail races at Springfield Cricket Club in Chelmsford. The Admiral McHilly is a hilly 16-mile route with approximately 900 feet of climbing and descent, while the 6-mile Chelmer Trail follows a flatter path through the Chelmer Valley.
Both races are self-navigation events where runners receive written route descriptions on the day rather than marked courses with marshals. Participants are timed out and back at the finish rather than starting together as a mass group.
