About Anglezarke Amble Challenge
On 13 February 2027, the Anglezarke Amble Challenge takes walkers across the moorland of Rivington, Anglezarke and Turton, an area locally known as "Little Lake District". Starting from Rivington Village Hall in Bolton, participants can choose between a 17-mile or 24-mile trail route, with a 10-hour time limit for completion.
The challenge is designed for walkers prepared for winter moorland conditions. Checkpoints are positioned at Slipper Lowe (9.6 miles on the shorter route, 18 miles on the longer) and Entwistle Barn (10.1 miles on the longer route), where refreshments are provided. Walkers must carry essential equipment including map, compass, whistle, torch, waterproofs, first aid kit, food, drink and a mug; random equipment checks are conducted throughout the event. Retirements are accepted at checkpoints only.
