About Aonach Mor Uphill Race
The Aonach Mor Uphill takes place on New Year's Day in the Highlands near Fort William, starting from the Nevis Range car park and climbing 610 metres over 3 kilometres of trail to the top gondola station. Runners aged 18 and over compete on this vertical challenge, with the event capped at 150 entries. Should adverse weather prevent gondola operation, an alternative route runs from the bottom station up to Tower 13 and back.
Registration happens on the morning of the event at the venue. Kit checks take place at both registration and the finish line, with specific safety equipment required for all participants. Practical facilities include toilets at the start and finish. Runners can transport a bag of warm clothing to the finish area via gondola during registration, and post-race refreshments are available at either the Snowgoose Cafe or Pinemartin Cafe depending on the route taken. Return to the base is free via gondola or by running down.
