About Atlantic Coast Ultra - 40 Miler
Cornwall's Atlantic Coast Path forms the backbone of this 40-mile trail challenge, which begins at Fistral Beach in Newquay and traces the shoreline down to Hayle River Mouth before finishing at St Ives Bay Holiday Park on 3 October 2026. Following the South West Coast Path and its Acorn waymarkers, runners navigate wild and rugged terrain marked by steep climbs and descents, with the sea typically kept to the left.
Organised by Epic Endurance Events CIC, the event welcomes participants to walk, run or crawl the distance. The route is largely waymarked but self-navigation skills are essential. Support comes via staffed checkpoints at roughly 10-mile intervals providing food and hot drinks, GPS tracking, medical cover and on-course assistance. Event headquarters are based at St Ives Bay Holiday Park, where parking is available and catering facilities, showers and toilets are on site. All finishers receive a bespoke T-shirt and medal.
