About Avebury8 Nine
Taking place on 15 November 2026, the Avebury8 Nine is a 9-mile trail race based at Avebury Stones in Wiltshire. It forms the fifth event in the Wiltshire Off Road Race League (WORRL). Starting on Bray Street, the route heads north through Yatesbury before returning via Avebury High Street, with the finish near the club house.
The course traverses neolithic Windmill Hill and includes a downhill section toward the surrounding fields. While not particularly hilly, it presents a genuine challenge across a varied mixture of chalk tracks, uneven ruts, footpaths and short tarmac stretches. Autumn conditions mean mud and puddles are likely. Every finisher receives a hand-thrown Avebury8 mug, and post-race refreshments and cakes are available with proceeds going to the Wiltshire & Bath Air Ambulance. The event is ARC-licensed and held under UK Athletics Rules; participants must be aged 17 or over on race day.
