About Barney to Beach
Starting in Barnstaple town centre, this eight-mile trail run follows the scenic Tarka Trail through North Devon countryside before finishing with a sprint across the dunes to Crow Point beach. The route is suitable for all abilities and has become established in the local running calendar.
The event takes place on 13 September 2026 and supports FiG, which helps bereaved children and young people across North Devon and Torridge. Families are welcome; under 16s can participate on a Family Ticket with a parent or carer, and there's also a one-mile fun run through the dunes for ages four to 16. Dogs are welcome for those walking the course.
The event village near the finish line will feature live music, refreshments and children's entertainment. The organisers note that the course terrain makes it unsuitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, and recommend contacting them with accessibility questions.
