About Bat Challenge
Runners seeking flexibility and a supportive atmosphere will find the Bat Challenge suits their style. Starting at 6pm on 30 April 2027 from Lower Beacon Car Park in Charnwood, participants choose their own distance within a six-hour window – anything from a single 5K loop to over 80K for those testing their endurance.
The 3.3-mile trail circuit climbs steeply through Beacon Hill Country Park on well-maintained paths before descending through woodland. Those running multiple laps will experience the transition from spring daylight into darkness, with head torches becoming part of the experience. The looped format means the route becomes familiar even after nightfall. Marshals support runners throughout, and the inclusive atmosphere welcomes those running, walking or hiking at their own pace.
