About Battle of the Brampton Valley Way
The Brampton Valley Way, a traffic-free trail running between Market Harborough in Leicestershire and Northampton, hosts a novel inter-county contest on 11 April 2027. Runners choose which end to start from and represent their county, with 100 places available from each location. The 14-mile and 28-mile distances follow a hard packed track surface with occasional puddles and a small ford; elevation gain is around 280 metres. Two notably dark tunnels (294 metres and 422 metres) require a head torch or handheld torch to navigate safely.
Four feed stations are positioned approximately every 4.5 miles along the route, and toilets are available at both ends and the turnaround. Professional first aid covers the start and finish, with volunteers stationed at road crossings including the A508. The race operates on a cupless system, so runners must carry their own hydration vessel. A 7-hour cut-off applies. Canicross is not permitted, and participants must keep left throughout.
