About BB-Charnwood Marathon
Taking place on 20 March 2027, the BB-Charnwood Marathon offers two trail running options across the Leicestershire landscape. Based at Brush Bowls & Sports Club in Loughborough, runners can tackle an 18-mile short route looping to Beacon Hill and through the Outwoods, or push further on the 27-mile long route which ventures into Bradgate Park, Swithland Woods and Woodhouse Eaves. Both courses pass landmarks including Blackbrook Reservoir, Mount St Bernard Abbey and Bardon Hill.
The event operates checkpoint controls throughout, with refuelling stops providing snacks and drinks along the way. A hot meal awaits finishers at the club. Participants must be properly equipped with compass, whistle, torch, waterproofs and OS maps, and should be prepared for checkpoint cut-offs and an overall time limit. Certificates are awarded to those who complete the course.
