The Beacon Bash is a 20-mile trail race held on 6 December 2026, starting from Appley Bridge Scout Hut in West Lancashire. The route covers just over 20 miles with 2345 feet of elevation, running primarily on footpaths with some road sections and main road crossings. Participants must navigate using the provided roadbook or a GPS route, with the course marked by black and yellow tape. A water stop is positioned at 12 miles on Parbold Hill, where an intermediate cut-off may direct slower runners onto a shorter route.

Entrants are assigned registration and start windows based on anticipated speed, with waves organised to accommodate completion times ranging from three to seven hours. Timing chips are compulsory and must be worn visibly throughout. Trail shoes with aggressive tread are essential due to muddy sections, and runners must carry a waterproof jacket, spare base layer, charged mobile phone, food, water and navigation tools. The event takes place in winter conditions and may be cold and wet. Hot food and drinks are provided at the finish for competitors, and morning refreshments are available at the scout hut.
