About Beast of Llangattock
Llangattock Park House in Powys hosts the Beast of Llangattock on 22 August 2026, a trail running event across four distances suited to different ambitions. Runners can choose the 10 km, 10 miles, 20 miles or 32-mile route, each on marked courses with GPX files available.
The terrain weaves through canal towpaths, fields and ancient walkways before climbing to the Llangattock Escarpment. Longer routes venture across open moorland and mountain trails above Craig y Cilau's caves, descend into a valley of rivers and woodland, and return via canal towpath. Ascent varies with distance, reaching approximately 4,842 feet on the full 32-mile route. Cut-off times allow 4 hours for the shorter distances and 14 hours for the 20 and 32-mile courses.
Facilities at the event include toilets, refreshments, parking and a medical team. Mandatory kit requirements apply depending on distance; the 32-mile ultra requires a head torch and spare batteries alongside essentials like waterproof jacket and trousers, map or GPX file, and a mobile phone.
