About Beat the Barge
Beat The Barge takes runners on a 5 mile mixed terrain route through Great Linford in Milton Keynes, starting from Linford Manor Park. The course weaves through Stonepit Field, along the Grand Union Canal towpath and the area's distinctive redway network, combining off-road paths, woodland trails and traffic-free routes.
The event's distinctive feature is the challenge of trying to outpace a barge travelling alongside part of the course, creating an unusual competitive element unique to the location. Runners experience varied surfaces throughout, moving between parkland, waterside paths and multi-terrain sections that showcase some of Milton Keynes's most recognisable running environments. The race takes place on 8 August 2026.
