About Beyond Newcastle
Wild Deer Events organises Beyond Newcastle, a trail running event starting and finishing at the Swing Bridge on Newcastle's Quayside. Taking place on 25 April 2026, runners can choose between 25 km and 55 km distances, both fully signed and supported with marshals and feed stations throughout.
The longer route follows the River Tyne to Wylam before crossing into the Derwent Valley, passing through Chopwell Woods and Lintzford along the way before returning to the finish. The 55 km course includes three feed stations while the 25 km has one. An event cut-off means runners must reach the final feed station on the Derwent Walk by 5pm to continue, with an overall finish deadline of 7:30pm. Participants should carry a running backpack or vest, fluids, food or gels, a charged phone with emergency contacts, and a headtorch if expecting to finish after 4:30pm.
