About Beyond the Lune Skyline Winter Ultra
Taking place on 19 December 2026, the Beyond the Lune Winter Ultra is a 65 km trail run based in Kirkby Lonsdale. Starting and finishing at The Barn in the town centre, the route loops across footpaths and bridleways with around 2000 m of ascent, taking in seven summits and local landmarks before a technical finish via the Radical steps. About 10 km is on tarmac.
Navigation is self-led using a GPS unit and backup map or second GPS device. Participants must be 18 or over and carry mandatory kit including waterproof jacket and overtrousers with taped seams, warm hat, gloves, survival bag, compass, whistle, first aid kit, head torch with spares, base layer and food and water. Two checkpoints along the route offer hot food and drinks.
