About Big Bear Run
Big Bear Run takes runners on a 10 km road race from Askham Bryan Wildlife Park, near York, on 16 August 2026. The accurately measured course starts and finishes within the park grounds before heading onto closed rural roads through the villages of Askham Richard and Bilbrough, passing through gently rolling Yorkshire countryside suitable for runners of all abilities.
Organised by Curly's Athletes in partnership with Askham Bryan Wildlife and Conservation Park, the event combines a countryside running experience with fundraising for the conservation of Asiatic black bears. Finishers receive a medal and post-race refreshments, with entry to Askham Bryan Wildlife Park included after the race.
