About Big Night Out Winchester
Big Night Out Winchester brings trail running to Hampshire's winter calendar with a nocturnal 12 km or 22 km route based at Winchester Athletics Track. The full circuit takes runners out across the South Downs Way towards Cheesefoot Head, then loops through Fawley and Morestead before heading onto MOD land at Deacons Hill. The route follows the Pilgrims Trail past St Catherines Hill and returns along the Itchen Way beside the river back to the track.
Because this is a night-time event taking place on 7 November 2026, runners must carry a headtorch or chest torch plus a backup, along with at least 500 ml of fluid. Winter clothing is advised. The fully marked course uses fluorescent directional markers, though downloading the GPX file to a wearable device is recommended. On-site registration, bag drop and parking at East Winchester Barfield Park and Ride are provided, with cut-off times in place for each distance.
