About BigMud Trails (EARTH
BigMud Trails (EARTH) is the opening event of the Classic Element Trail Series, returning for its sixth year. Taking place on Sunday 21 February 2027 at Queen Elizabeth Country Park near Horndean in East Hampshire, runners can tackle either 16 miles or 50 km across muddy trail routes through the South Downs National Park.
Both distances follow single-lap courses with two ascents of Butser Hill, involving a total climb of 518 feet. The routes wind through rolling hills and trails around the Meon Valley. Runners must carry at least 500 ml of fluid, and downloading the GPX file to a device is recommended as course markers can be tampered with. Winter weather appropriate clothing is advised. Cut-off times apply to each distance, and well-stocked aid stations are positioned throughout the course. This is a cupless event, with Precision Fuel & Hydration products available on the day. Finishers can choose to have a tree planted rather than receive a medal.
