Trail running across the New Forest's open moorland and forest paths appeals to those seeking expansive views and a sense of space. BigSky Trails (AIR) is the final event in the Classic Element Trail Series, taking place on 20 September 2026 starting from Hyde Common, one of the higher points in the New Forest National Park. The 18-mile route runs across wide open plains and winding forest trails with long horizon views and free-roaming wildlife, finishing with a run along Hampton Ridge back to the start point.
The course is fully marked and marshalled with two aid stations offering sweet and savoury snacks, vegan options, water, flat coke and electrolyte drink. Runners must carry at least 500ml of fluid and are advised to bring appropriate clothing for changeable weather and download the GPX route file. A bag drop tent and car parking at Harry's Field Campsite are available. The cut-off time for the 18-mile distance is 4.5 hours.
