About Blackshaw Head Fete Fell Race
Held as part of the Blackshaw Head Fete, this fell race takes runners across 8.9 km of trail near Hebden Bridge with 274 m of ascent. The route, which starts and finishes at the fete field near Blackshaw Head Chapel, is partially flagged, though competitors are responsible for route-finding and their own safety throughout.
Entry takes place on the day only, with numbers limited to 150 runners. Participants must be at least 18 on the day of the race and are required to carry specific minimum kit including a waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, hat, gloves, whistle and a map. Kit checks will be carried out and those without the required equipment will not be permitted to run. All profits from the event go to local charities.
The race welcomes runners across open, women, veteran (V40, V50, V60, V70) and team categories, with local awards also available. Current course records stand at 34:37 (male, 2022) and 40:58 (female, 2009).
