About Blackstone Edge Fell Race
A short fell race on Blackstone Edge in the South Pennines, this 5.6 km challenge takes runners across trail terrain with 366 m of ascent. The route passes the prominent trig point, sections of the Pennine Way and a Roman Old Road, with rough ground and an infamous bog among the obstacles. The course has remained largely unchanged since the race was first held in 1983.
Blackstone Edge Fell Race is a Category 5 fixture in the FRA English Championship short series for 2027 and has served as a counter in British and English fell championships. It also forms part of the Todmorden Harriers Summer Series, with runners who enter all four races in that series eligible for a prize draw. The race takes place on Saturday 18 May 2027. Competitors must be aged 16 or over, and FRA kit rules apply. Pre-entry is required; there is no entry on the day.
