About Borders Ultra Challenge
A new ultra challenge launches on the Northumberland and Scottish Borders coast in August 2027, combining trail running with spectacular scenery along the Berwickshire Coastal Path. Starting in Berwick-upon-Tweed and finishing in North Berwick, runners can choose between 10 miles, a marathon distance, or the full 84 km ultra over the weekend of 28-29 August.
The event caters to a range of abilities and paces, welcoming runners, joggers and walkers. Route support includes rest stops roughly every 12.5 km with larger facilities every 25 km, offering catering, changing facilities, medical cover and welfare support throughout. GPS tracking and full route marking help participants navigate the trail.
Accommodation options include camping with facilities, and shuttle bus transfers to local train stations are available. Finishers receive a T-shirt, medal and meal.
