About Bowland Trail Half
Taking place in January, the Bowland Trail Half sends runners across 13 miles of mixed terrain around Slaidburn in the Ribble Valley. The route takes in vehicle tracks, singletrack, short road sections and boggy climbs, climbing roughly 2,000 feet overall. Navigation requires preparation: runners are provided with a GPX file, written route description and map, though marshals are positioned at key locations rather than at every junction.
Winter conditions are a real consideration for this event, so a mandatory kit list is in place to ensure participants are prepared for rain, ice, snow, wind and frost. A race briefing precedes the start, and finishers receive a meal and memento. The event supports Morecambe Bay foodbank.
