About Branches & Bays 10K & 5K
Runners can choose between a 10K or 5K trail route on 16 August 2026 at Branches & Bays, a coastal trail event starting from Hawthorn Community Centre in County Durham. The courses wind through Hawthorn Dene's protected woodland before reaching the striking coastline, taking in Hawthorn Hive and Blast Beach alongside clifftop paths and natural terrain for a varied off-road experience.
Organised by Trail Outlaws as part of the Urban Trails Series, the event features chip timing, fully marked and marshalled courses, checkpoint refreshments, free parking and medical cover. Both distances offer a well-supported trail running experience through some of County Durham's most distinctive coastal and woodland landscapes.
