About Castle to Castle ULTRA 36
Set between two Lancashire castles, the Castle to Castle Ultra spans 36 miles of largely trail running from Clitheroe to Lancaster on 17 July 2027. The route incorporates urban sections and road crossings where runners will need to adjust their pace, with full route details and GPX files provided to registered participants ahead of the event.
The endurance challenge is structured around six checkpoints offering water and cordial, with four providing additional snacks. Runners must complete the course within 10 hours. A mandatory kit check takes place at registration, with required items including a waterproof jacket with sealed seams, long sleeved base layer, at least 1 litre water capacity, fully charged mobile phone, foil blanket and whistle. Chip timing and live tracking support the fully marked route throughout.
