The Cateran Trail Ultramarathon is a 55-mile circular trail race in the Perth and Kinross highlands, where runners tackle roughly 7,450 feet of ascent across predominantly off-road terrain. The route winds through forest trails, rough tracks and open hillside with occasional sections of quiet country roads, culminating in a climb to An Lairig Pass before the descent back to the finish at Gulabin Lodge near Spittal of Glenshee.

Taking place on 15 May 2027, this UTMB Index qualifier operates on a self-sufficient basis with a 15-hour cut-off time. The event welcomes entrants without formal qualification requirements, though organisers recommend regular experience of runs around 20 miles and expect finishers to be confident in completing the distance within the time limit. Support crews and walking poles are not permitted, and runners must carry mandatory kit including a foil blanket, mobile phone and water capacity of at least one litre, which will be checked during the race.
