About CBTE Eight Stations Ultra
The Eight Stations Ultra takes runners across challenging terrain in North Yorkshire, covering 50 km of trail with over 3,300 feet of elevation gain. Starting from Whitby Leisure Centre, the route descends into the Esk Valley before following the North Yorkshire Moor Railway Line to its finish in Pickering, passing eight railway stations along the way. Expect mud, rocks and tree roots underfoot throughout, with much of the course running alongside the railway itself.
The event operates as a partially self-navigational route with a 13-hour cutoff, making it accessible to strong walkers as well as runners. Participants will receive route maps, step-by-step descriptions and GPX files in advance. This is an undulating fell race rather than a road-based event, suited to those seeking a genuine off-road challenge in the North York Moors on 11 July 2027.
