About Centurion South Downs Way 50
Centurion Running organises the South Downs Way 50, a 50 mile trail race that follows the National Trail from Worthing to Eastbourne on 10 April 2027. The route begins on local footpaths and bridleways before joining the South Downs Way near Chanctonbury Ring, taking a marked variation over Windover Hill at Alfriston, and concluding with a lap of the athletics track in Eastbourne. Runners should expect approximately 5700 feet of elevation gain across terrain that is about 85 per cent trail and 15 per cent road.
The course is supported by seven aid stations stocked with nutrition, drinks and hot food, plus full medical cover. Course markings combine National Trail acorn posts with Centurion arrows and tape. A 13 hour time limit applies, with cut offs at each aid station. Mandatory kit including a mobile phone, waterproof jacket, two lights of at least 100 lumens, warm layers and a survival blanket will be checked before the start. Crew and pacers are not permitted on the course, though friends and family may join for the final lap at the track.
