About Centurion South Downs Way 50km
This 50 km trail race across the South Downs National Park on 12 June 2027 suits runners ready for a sustained challenge over undulating terrain. Starting at Matterley Bowl near Winchester, the route follows the chalk ridgeway and South Downs Way National Trail almost entirely within the national park, finishing at Queen Elizabeth Country Park beneath Butser Hill. With roughly 1150 m of ascent spread across predominantly trail running (about 80%), participants must complete the course within nine hours, with intermediate cut offs enforced at aid stations along the way.
Four well stocked aid stations provide food and drink throughout, supported by full medical cover including roving and static teams. The course is fully marked using Centurion ribbons and arrows, with live tracking available. Runners must be aged 20 or over and pass a mandatory kit check; required items include a charged mobile phone, at least 1 litre water capacity, a survival blanket, a waterproof jacket with sealed seams, and a personal cup. Pacers and crew are not permitted.
