About Chester Ultra 100
The Chester Ultra 100 is a 102 mile trail ultramarathon that winds through Cheshire's varied landscape, from Chester itself through Beeston Castle, Delamere Forest and the Sandstone Trail, before heading towards Frodsham, Warrington and Helsby Hill, with the Bridgewater Canal also featuring on the route. Taking place on 17 April 2027, the course includes 1590m of ascent and operates under a 32 hour cut off.
Support is provided at 12 checkpoints positioned throughout the route, with indoor stops offering hot drinks and some hot food at village halls. A GPX file and route marking are made available beforehand, and live GPS tracking is provided via GB Race Tracker. The event is limited to 400 places and is licensed by the Trail Running Association, held under UK Athletics rules and awarding both ITRA points and UTMB mountain performance index points.
Runners must be aged at least 20 and have previously completed an organised ultramarathon of 50 miles or more. Mandatory kit requirements include a waterproof coat with sealed seams, long sleeved base layer, a minimum 1 litre water container, a charged mobile phone in waterproof covering, a survival or thermal bag, a headtorch and a whistle; these are subject to random checks during the event.
