About Chevy Chase
A 20-mile upland trail race across the Cheviot Hills, the Chevy Chase takes place on 3 July 2027 and requires serious navigation skills. Starting from the top of Ramsey Lane, the route is unmarked and competitors must visit manned checkpoints in order using map and compass; GPS navigation alone is not acceptable. The course traverses largely off-road terrain including tracks, footpaths, sheep paths and rough fell, taking in the summits of Cheviot and Hedgehope.
Participants must carry full waterproof whole-body cover, weather-appropriate additional clothing including hat and gloves, a whistle, map, compass, and emergency food and drink. Random kit checks are performed before and during the event. Registration and the finish area are based at the back of the Cheviot Centre in Wooler, with checkpoint and retirement points provided throughout the course.
A non-competitive Chevy Chase Challenge Walk is also available, following the same route with a seven hour time limit; running is not permitted within the walk category.
