About Chiltern Ridge Classic 50k
Established as a fixture on the ultrarunning calendar, the Chiltern Ridge Classic 50K takes runners along the Ridgeway National Trail through the heart of the Chiltern Hills on 17 April 2027. Starting at Berkhamsted Castle, the route traverses undulating ridgeline and woodland before finishing at Hampden Meadow in Wendover, passing notable landmarks including Ashridge Estate, Ivinghoe Beacon, Coombe Hill and Whiteleaf Hill.
The 50 km trail course is marked with orange arrows and ribbons throughout, with marshals positioned at key road crossings and course checkers patrolling during the race. Three full checkpoints are stationed at approximately 14.3 km, 29.6 km and 42 km, providing water, drinks, gels, chews, snacks and fresh fruit. Runners must be aged 20 or over and the event is limited to 400 participants. The race operates under UKA rules with a 9-hour time limit, and entrants are required to carry a digital GPX file and paper map, mobile phone, light jacket or emergency blanket, at least 0.5 litres of refillable hydration, a collapsible cup and payment method.
