About Chilterns Trail Marathon
On 17 April 2027, the Chilterns Trail Marathon takes runners on a guided 26.2-mile journey through the Chiltern Hills. The route weaves together sections of the Ridgeway, local paths and nature reserves including Wendover Woods, mixing technical single-track sections with established trails and passing through landscapes where deer and red kites can be spotted. With around 500 metres of ascent across rolling terrain, steeper sections are walked rather than run.
English Athletics qualified Run Leaders navigate the route, offer technique advice and share local knowledge, with groups organised by ability. Participants should be comfortable running a half marathon on flat ground in under 2.5 hours, and trail shoes are essential. Checkpoints and refreshments are stationed at up to three points along the course. The event is limited to 40 places and includes a finisher's medal and certificate. Tring Station lies just a three-minute walk from the Iron Room start point, with both paid parking at the station and limited free on-street parking available nearby.
