About Chopwell Woods Summer Trail Runs
Wild Deer Events has hosted trail running at Chopwell Woods since 2019, and the annual Summer Trail Runs return to this Forestry England site each summer. Set across 360 hectares of mixed woodland on the fringes of Gateshead, the event offers three distances: 5, 10 and 15 miles of trail running through woodland terrain. The 26 June 2027 event welcomes runners and one dog per participant (Canicross friendly).
Timing is provided by Timing Up North. Finishers receive a medal and summer buffet with refreshments at the finish area, creating a picnic atmosphere within the woodland setting. On-site parking is available but limited, so participants are encouraged to walk or car share where possible.
