About Community Traverse Lakes 100KM
The Lakes 100KM follows Alfred Wainwright's renowned Coast to Coast route, taking runners on a 100 km point-to-point mountain ultra from St Bees in Cumberland to Shap on 20 March 2027. The trail traverses the Lake District across coastal paths, steep climbs, rocky descents and mountain terrain, with sections that are waymarked but require navigational competence.
Checkpoints at Ennerdale, Borrowdale, Patterdale and Shap provide water, hot food including vegan and gluten-free options, snacks, nutrition support, shelter, toilets and first aid. A bag drop service runs from start to finish, and live tracking is available throughout. The event operates a 30-hour overall cut-off with individual checkpoint cut-offs detailed in the race pack. Participants must carry mandatory kit and will receive a GPX file and final route details in advance. The ultra is registered with the International Trail Running Association, with finishers earning ITRA endurance points.
