About Country to Capital Ultra Marathon
Run 43 miles from the Buckinghamshire countryside to central London in the Country to Capital Ultra Marathon. Starting at the Shoulder of Mutton pub in Wendover on 9 January 2027, the point-to-point route combines cross country trails, roads and long stretches along the Grand Union Canal towpath, finishing near Paddington at the Stowe Centre by Little Venice.
The terrain is mixed, with roughly equal portions of trail, road and canal towpath covering elevation gains of 1375 feet and losses of 1720 feet. The course is waymarked but navigation is required; entrants receive GPS tracking units and voice navigation support. Five checkpoints supply water and snacks along the route. The 11-hour cutoff applies from checkpoint three onwards, with mandatory kit including water capacity, a charged phone and powerbank, survival blanket, waterproof jacket, headtorch, hat, gloves and long-sleeved base layer. Competitors must be 18 or over. All finishers receive a medal, and the finish area at the Stowe Centre provides showers and toilets.
