About Derwentwater Trail 5K, 10K & 15K
Trail running around Derwentwater forms the core of this Keswick event, where runners navigate marked off-road courses through footpaths and bridleways in the northern Lake District. Three distances—5 km, 10 km and 15 km—all start and finish at Fitzpark, with terrain that mixes hard-packed trail alongside muddier sections, rolling hills and a notably boggy stretch in Glenderaterra Valley. The routes offer views across the lake and toward peaks including Skiddaw and Blencathra.
Water stations feature on the 10 km (around 6 km) and 15 km (around 11 km) courses; runners should bring their own water or a reusable cup as cups aren't provided. An event village at the finish includes live music, food and drink stalls, a sports retailer presence and basic facilities. Medical cover and marshals support the courses throughout. Children under 12 can take part in a free on-the-day Fun Trail with a finishers' medal. Race numbers must be worn horizontally and in-ear headphones are not permitted, though bone-conducting devices are allowed.
