About Dormouse Challenge
The Dormouse Challenge welcomes runners of all ambitions to Salcey Forest near Northampton on 20 November 2026. Participants can tackle the 3.5-mile trail loop as many times as they like within a 6-hour window, making it equally suited to those completing a single 5 km outing or pushing towards ultra-distance goals of 80 km and beyond. The off-road course follows well-maintained forest pathways of crushed stone and trodden earth; trail shoes are advisable in wetter conditions, though road shoes work in dry weather.
The event accommodates runners, walkers, hikers and canicross participants (dogs must be kept on short leads). On-site facilities include a café and toilets, with paid parking available. The venue is accessible by bus from Northampton or Milton Keynes. Finishers receive a medal and flapjack with a drink, or can choose a tree-planting token instead of the medal.
