About Dun Holm Challenge | Day 3
The third instalment of the Dun Holm Challenge offers runners an unusual format: choose your own distance across a range from 3 km up to 50 km, all on the same beautiful riverside course. Taking place on 29 May 2027 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, the event follows the River Wear on trail terrain with views of Durham Cathedral throughout. The 7-hour timed format means participants can set their own pace and decide how far to go, with the course fully signed so no navigation experience is needed.
Support stations are positioned at the start-finish point, serving drinks and snacks on every lap. The event welcomes walkers and all abilities alongside runners, with vegan options available. Finishers receive a Durham-themed medal, and distance pins are awarded for those completing half-marathon distances and beyond.
