About Dunstable Downs Half Marathon
Taking place on 20 June 2027, this half marathon covers 13.1 miles of trail terrain across the National Trust estate at Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade in Central Bedfordshire. The route incorporates ridge paths, descents and steep climbs, with over 450 metres of elevation gain throughout. Starting and finishing at the National Trust Countryside Centre, the course runs out to the Tree Cathedral and Bison Hill, loops Kensworth Quarry and includes an out and back section to Five Knoles before returning via the lower Downs trails.
The race is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons, with marshals positioned at key points. Two checkpoints at 6.7km and 13.7km provide water and fuel supplies. Runners should carry a digital route map as backup. The event is limited to 250 participants with a 4-hour time limit, and is licensed by the Trail Running Association under UKA rules. On-site facilities include parking, toilets and a bag drop, with a cafe open after the race.
