About English Schools Fell Running Championships
Three different distances across 5 km, 6 km and 7 km trail courses make up the English Schools Fell Running Championships on 4 October 2026. Held at Sedbergh School in Westmorland and Furness, the event is organised by the Fell Runners Association with races structured by school year and age category.
The fell courses are mapped and marshalled, taking runners over lower and higher terrain with a stream crossing and a mix of short, sharp and sustained climbs and descents. Competitors will encounter twists and turns throughout the local countryside. All runners must carry specified kit: fell or trail shoes, a waterproof top, hat and gloves. Maps and GPX files are provided for each category. Registration, briefings, starts and finishes take place at Lupton Fields, and road management will be in place where routes cross roads.
