About Epney Trail Run
The Epney Trail Run offers community-focused trail running in Gloucestershire's countryside. Taking place on 5 September 2027, this 11-mile event starts and finishes at The Anchor Inn near Stroud, following a clearly marked circular route through the village of Epney. The course uses the Gloucester to Sharpness Canal towpath, local public footpaths and sections of the Severn Way, with approximately 70 metres of elevation gain across predominantly flat, off-road terrain.
The route combines towpath and trail surfaces, making it accessible to first-time trail runners, though participants should expect variable underfoot conditions including potentially uneven or muddy sections depending on the weather. The race starts at 10:00 with a final cut-off time of 13:00, and includes marshalling at key points along with one aid station at approximately the halfway mark. A GPX file is provided in advance. Runners must be at least 17 years old on the day and sufficiently fit to complete the distance, prepared for the conditions of trail running on shared public access routes.
