About Firle 5km Handicap Trail Race
Firle 5km Handicap Trail Race takes runners along the Old Coach Road on 27 September 2026, with views across the South Downs. Starting from Firle Stores in Lewes, the 5km out-and-back route is mostly hard-packed trail—about 90 per cent off-road—with quieter country lanes making up the remainder. As a handicap race, competitors start at staggered intervals based on recent race or parkrun times, allowing runners of different abilities to compete fairly.
The course is fully marked and marshalled. Facilities are available at Firle Village Hall, including toilets, changing rooms and parking. Prizes are awarded for the top three finishers, and tea and cake follow the event. Competitors must be at least 15 on the day, and entry is capped at 50 runners. Dogs are not permitted on the course.
