About Gavel Fell Race
Gavel Fell Race takes runners across trail terrain near Ennerdale Water with 330 metres of ascent over 5 miles. Held as part of the Ennerdale Show at The Leaps near Kirkland, this fell running event on 26 August 2026 is classified as a category BS race by the Fell Runners Association.
The senior race is open to runners aged 18 and over and requires full FRA kit including waterproof cover, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food. Competitors should have fell running experience and be able to navigate using map and compass. Junior races for U10, U12, U14 and U16 age groups also take place. Registration happens on the day of the event.
