About Ghost of the Miller's Boy Trail
Ghost of the Miller's Boy Trail is a 10 km night-time trail run taking place on 28 October 2026 around Thaxted in Essex. Starting and finishing at The Maypole Public House, the route follows footpaths, bridleways and tracks mostly off-road, with occasional stretches on quiet roads through the local area.
This is a self-navigation event where participants receive a written route description on the day rather than course markings or GPS files. Runners and walkers both take part, each responsible for their own navigation and required to carry a mobile phone and personal lighting. Participants are timed individually out and back at the finish, rather than starting as a mass group.
All profits from the event support the ongoing restoration of John Webb's Windmill in Thaxted.
