About Goathland V Trigs Ultra Challenge
The Goathland V Trigs Ultra Challenge sends runners and walkers on a 37-mile trail route across the North York Moors in North Yorkshire on 17 April 2027. Starting and finishing at Goathland Village Hall, participants navigate themselves between five listed triangulation pillars using public rights of way, with checkpoint locations provided in advance alongside a suggested route map and GPX file. A mystery checkpoint will be revealed during the event at a marshalled location.
This is a self-supported challenge with a 15-hour time limit, meaning finishers may cross the line after dark. Three checkpoints along the route offer snacks and drinks, but no support crews or accompanying runners are permitted. The terrain encompasses open moorland, substantial hills and varied surfaces. Entry is available for solo participants or pairs, with limited places available.
Participants must carry mandatory kit including an OS or Harvey map of the North York Moors, compass, whistle, head torch with spares, emergency bivvy, warm and waterproof clothing, charged mobile phone with charger and battery pack, water and emergency food. Those entering should confirm they meet age requirements and be prepared for navigation and self-sufficiency in a remote upland setting.
