About Gower Peninsula Ultra Challenge
Held across the weekend of 17-18 July 2027, the Gower Peninsula Ultra Challenge takes place on the trails of the Gower Peninsula in South Wales, with basecamp at Penrice Castle. Participants can choose from five distances: 10 miles, 25 km, 50 km, 75 km, or 100 km. The event welcomes walkers, joggers, and runners, with additional options including a Solo Start, Ultra March format, and Trailblazerz participation.
The route is marked with pink arrows and glow-sticks for night running, with GPS tracking via event app and timing checks at rest stops. Rest stops are positioned roughly every 12.5 km, with larger facilities every 25 km offering catering, changing rooms, and medical support. Food and drink are included throughout, along with a hot meal for finishers. Medical teams including doctors, paramedics, first aiders, podiatrists, and massage therapists are on duty, supported by a 24-hour Control Room.
Weekend camping at basecamp is available, with options for a roughly 50 km campsite with facilities or a pitch-your-own site. Finishers receive a medal, t-shirt, glass of fizz, and downloadable certificate.
