About Granny's Bay Challenge
PFW Running organises the Granny's Bay Challenge as an annual fixture in the local running calendar, taking place on 14 March 2027 in Lytham St. Annes. The event is a six-hour trail running competition held under UK Athletics rules, with competitors free to complete as many or as few laps as they wish within the time limit. A single lap completion qualifies as a finisher.
The course follows a flat tarmac path along the Ribble estuary, starting at the Fylde Spitfire Memorial and tracing the new coast path past Fairhaven Lake, Granny's Bay and Lytham Green. The route offers views toward Lytham windmill and across the estuary toward Southport and North Wales. Participants must be aged 18 or over, with those aged 18 to 19 limited to marathon distance and those aged 20 and over able to run further.
