About Great Glen Ultra Marathon
This 72 mile ultramarathon through the Scottish Highlands challenges runners to navigate the full length of the Great Glen Way from Corpach near Fort William to Inverness on 3 July 2027. The trail-based course encompasses canal towpaths, forestry paths and quiet roads, with approximately 8,500 feet of ascent and UTMB points on offer. Runners should expect a self-sufficient experience with marshaled checkpoints roughly every 10 miles and a fully marked route following the waymarked Great Glen blue posts.
The event is designed for those prepared for an unsupported ultra, with mandatory kit requirements and cut-off times enforced at each checkpoint for safety. Support crews are restricted to four locations along the route: Fort Augustus, Invermoriston, Drumnadrochit and the finish at Inverness Athletics Stadium.
