About Great South Run
Established as one of the UK's flagship 10 mile road races, the Great South Run takes place on 18 October 2026 in Portsmouth. Starting near Avenue De Caen on Southsea Common, the route is notably flat and fast, passing key landmarks including Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth Harbour, the Historic Dockyard and HM Naval Base before winding through residential streets and returning to the seafront.
The final stages take runners past the D Day Memorial and Canoe Lake, finishing along East Esplanade towards Southsea Castle. Multiple start waves enable runners to find their rhythm, whilst music, entertainment and local crowds feature throughout the course.
